Thrift in ocean county NJ produced well today! Got 14k disc earrings 50 cents. A weird coro natural blister pearl parrot brooch that is super tiny, 20” 14k gold rope chain for $4.00 and lady tells me “it’s expensive because its real gold”, and a crazy high karat gold brooch type thing for 50 cents.

The brooch has me stumped. Is it an antique chatelaine, or something more interesting like the top of a medal? Weighs 9.7 grams. Just shy of 18k. Prob 16. The rose good chain links are 14k. Unmarked/unsigned.

Thoughts on what it is, and sell or scrap are much appreciated.

Thanks and happy hunting ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1517364664.138344.jpgImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1517364684.948244.jpgImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1517364697.211264.jpg

Seems like a scrap item to me. You did extremely well. I’d be going back every other day with gold priced like that

I wish I lived closer. It’s by my parents so I have an excuse to visit more often.

The chain with medallion may be off a very expensive bottle of Champagne or some sort of wine. Just a guess. Great surface find:thumb_up:

Could it be a tie bar? Ive got a couple that kind of look like that from the 30's/40's. Good luck.

Feel free to PM me the name of the shop, as this is basically in my backyard.:occasion14:

I don’t mind sharing lol. It’s the Community Thrift Store. Some sort of food pantry charity. It’s on route 37 west next to an Aldo super market.

The town is holiday city

Sorry the town is actually called toms river

I believe the pin once held a ladies pocket watch. The swivel clasp is missing but the watch would have hung from the chain and swivel.

Congratualtions on the GOLD! :occasion14:

I see them online. Thanks

Now that I think about it I have a couple ladies watches with a swivel built into the crown. It’s probably not missing the swivel after all.
