Howdy Folks. Been swinging a new permission down the road from my place. It an old house renovation a young man is doing. I wished I had gotten permission sooner as he has ripped up much yard and poured a fabulous two car garage on to this old house. Anyway the first two hunts there were basically digging tons of nails and Betty Baker's damnable aluminum pie pans ripped to shreds all over the yard.:violent1: I went out this afternoon and changed my Nel Snake coil over to the RC26. I was in serious cherry picking mode looking for an old coin somewhere as the previous two hunts barely got me any clad. I hit a spot with a few deep penny signals and the fun began. I opened a plug in the dry crumbling dirt and found my first wheat of six. Somewhere in all the joy of recovering all these "older" targets and praying for some silver the very nice condition 1942D Merc revealed itself. I was pretty happy one of the wheats in the spill was a 1918S. One of the wheats in my picture came from the old school here in town and it was actually recovered with my Garrett AT Pro which barely has any land hunting time on it. Might have to give her some swing time. I got the old Avon Tiny Lipstick Tube today as well. The 1970 Lee County Dog Tax was dug on a previous hunt. Dug a section of "brass buckle" or something that looks old. The rain swooped in tonight and chased me off but, I had a blast. Old spills are a hoot. Thanks for stopping by. Kurios1

Thanks mate. Hey, how are you liking your Park Ranger pouch. I am really loving mine. Makes hunting so much easier than the fanny packs I had been using since 2008. Mine might need a bath!:icon_thumleft:

Great stuff, Kurios! Good to see Little Ms. Silver showed up... always nice to finally pop one out on a place you KNOW has silver...lol. Nuttin worse than trudging home silver-less..ha. Congrats..Ddf

Looks like your persistence paid off. Love the merc!!

The lawn which is pretty torn up and not that pretty before they started trearing it up is littered with loads of trash. Lot's of iron, nails, aluminum bits of siding, pie pan scrap, etc. I'll be working this place pretty hard removing the surface crud to hopefully reveal a few nice old keepers.:hello:

I'd love to post some pictures but, for the sake of the property owner I will decline. Shame some folks probably only visit here to scope out spots to either trespass or claim jump. :angry9: Suffice it to say there's piles of dirt laying around and huge sections of scraped off sod free for all style digging. The owner has a nice newer BIG GREEN & YELLOW tractor with a huge bucket. I imagine he'll be moving more dirt around so I might get some easy pickins up the road.:toothy4:

Congrats on the Silver and the 18s.
Sweet couple of finds.

Thanks mate. Hope you are getting well acquainted with your new surroundings. Looking forward to some nice historical treasures coming from you shortly I reckon.:hello:

Those damn aluminum pieces! Nice finds on the silver and wheats, and cool lipstick tube!

I wonder if the lipstick belonged to the dog?

:hello:

Good looking hunt, and congrats on the silver!

Congratualtions on the nice hunt! :occasion14:

Nice finds! Cant seem to enlarge your pics but is the lipstick cover not a Ford model T tyre valve cover?

The tiny Avon lipstick tube is the item directly above the two rows of coins going vertically. My last picture shows the marking on the top end of the tube. Funny you mentioned the Model T valve stem cover because I did dig one at this sight but, lost it in my trunk in the trash pile I reckon.:laughing7:

Nice hunt whenever you can score some Mercs

It happens! I lost all my 'good' finds on a hunt once....next hunt I found them all in a hidden pocket on my backpack....

Sweet Merc, it never gets old digging those. Older S minted wheaties are a nice surprise. Good idea to put all your detectors to work.
