Three Rings in three days!

I posted on Saturday about finding a small 10k gold band.

Yesterday, I got a nice hit within the first 15 minutes, dug the hole and really thought I hit the jackpot. My heart was racing when I saw a HUGE man's ring and it looked like a gold High School type. It's really heavy and I saw "18K" on the band but when I brushed the dirt of, it was followed by "H.G.E." which basically means it plated. The ring itself is copper and that's why it"s heavy.

Today after a long day of work I stopped at the same location (an abandoned ball field) and just before dark I dug up another fake silver ring with a fake black stone and three fake diamonds. It's in perfect shape and it was still fun finding it. It's good practice to get used to this new detector (BH Tracker IV).

I may need to find a field in a more well to do area!! Digging up costume jewelry is fun but I want to find more gold and silver. But I'm sure it will appear soon enough if I just keep digging. I've really barely scratched the surface of this area. It's pretty big.

BTW, I have a lousy phone. When I got something decent I'll post some pics.

even fake rings are fun to find. much better than pull tabs

Oh, I found lots of those all three days as well as cans. There was lots of drinking in this area over the years.

I'm still learning this detector. Two of the three rings sounded like more trash on the tone setting. I am getting a feel for the tones but they can be really subtle at times. But, practice makes perfect.

I probably won't get out tomorrow 'cause I have to help my son fix a lawn mower but if we get it done quick and because the days are nice and long, I may be able to squeeze in an hour or so. I'm gonna' hit this field at least one more time before I go to another spot. The only life I see at this place are birds, rabbit and deer. NO ONE goes here anymore. This will be one of those places to fall back on because it's so huge.

This is very addicting but there's nothing wrong with positive addictions. I just call it passion.

i agree with jewelerguy, they are better than the pull tabs and rings and at least get your heart rate up for a moment or so. yeah its a let down, but if that's the worst thing that happens then its still a pretty good day. i still haven't found my 1st gold ring, just what seems to be a million pull tabs and rings! lol! keep pounding the dirt, the pay off is just around the corner!
