Is this a three ring bullet? It doesn't appear to be like the type I've seen in other forums. Found this nearby also. Flat button.

It's not a three ringer as you are thinking, meaning Civil War era. Forget exactly what bullet it is. Will look through my old posts I have one in there somewhere .....

I was thinking civil war era but it just doesn't look correct. Still trying to read the button. Shank is bent right over the important letters!

The back side a little closer. I can make out the word Colour. I can see the letters Tre for the beginning of a word and I can see vines. Any ideas?

Treble Gilt??? That is an old button. I have found Several of those style buttons at a place i call Button Hill. Button hill is a site I have found War of 1812 buttons and tons of period relics. I have some nice close ups of some I have found. I will try to hunt them down and upload them for you.

Great. This button was found at the site of an old farm here in Jim Thorpe (Mauch Chunk) PA. Can't wait to see your pics!

The button is old. The bullet is not.

Agree, the bullet is not CW. .45/.70 perhaps, but absolutely modern.

The button dates 1820-1840's

Nice finds

Here is one.. Hard to see..I will look for better pics and add them to this post.

Bullet solved! Thanks. I can see the vines in the button picture. Was it a button worn by common folk? Not a military type.

I'm thinking common folk. I have found tons of flat buttons at Button Hill and only 2 Military buttons.
