Hello all,
I hadn’t detected since February due to how busy I’ve been during my surgical residency but a buddy wanted to start up the hobby so I’ve taken some time to get him going. We’ve spent these hunts near one of the hospitals I work at that has houses most from the 1920s. First trip out I got a 1946 dime stuck to the back of a 1970 quarter and 3 wheats (25, 26, 45).
Second hunt was just curb strips and I got a 1927 Mercury dime and 5 wheats, the best of which was another 1925. Got a neat early 1950s Junior Firemarshal ring made by Hartford Insurance and a 1903 Indian that was in the same hole as the 1925 Wheat!
Last hunt was today and I went on my own hunting more curb strips and trying to scout some new ground. I was out for 2.5hrs. The Franklin half was on edge against a sidewalk and gave a very odd 11-44 and was quite the surprise, in fact when I had it in my hand I thought it was a token until I saw Ben, date is 1948. Got 7 wheats with again the oldest being 1925 but this one has a D mint mark. Last signal was an 11-46 and gave a sweet silver signal at 2 inches and was pleasantly surprised with a 1939-D Washington! Not bad when you can get silver each hunt, I’m happy! I got something that looks like a hem weight but it’s lead, I don’t know if they made lead ones and a common eagle parking token here in Birmingham.
