I took a half day from work yesterday. The weather was so nice and something kept telling me,, "You Gotta Dig"
I headed up to another one of those "New To The Permit" parks. Quite a few hills and a little bit of history. This
park was once surrounded by some tenement buildings and turn of the century private dwellings. Many of them
were demolished to make way for a major road that was pushed through the neighborhood in the late 40's and
early 50's.
Those buildings may be gone, but I was able to recover a remnant of those times.
It is a 1930's - pre WW II Tootsie Toy Car. It was buried about 8 inches down and it was upside down.
The under shell of the car was packed with soil. I saw right away that the wheels were intact and I knew not to
attempt to field clean.
When I got home, I turned on a gentle steam of water and flushed the soil out of the car. Both axles are broken,
but the rubber wheels survived being buried all those years.
This is not my first Tootsie Toy, but it is the "Most Intact Tootsie" that I have ever recovered.
Yep, there will be a return trip to this park.
