I took a half day from work yesterday. The weather was so nice and something kept telling me,, "You Gotta Dig"
I headed up to another one of those "New To The Permit" parks. Quite a few hills and a little bit of history. This
park was once surrounded by some tenement buildings and turn of the century private dwellings. Many of them
were demolished to make way for a major road that was pushed through the neighborhood in the late 40's and
early 50's.
Those buildings may be gone, but I was able to recover a remnant of those times.
It is a 1930's - pre WW II Tootsie Toy Car. It was buried about 8 inches down and it was upside down.
The under shell of the car was packed with soil. I saw right away that the wheels were intact and I knew not to
attempt to field clean.
When I got home, I turned on a gentle steam of water and flushed the soil out of the car. Both axles are broken,
but the rubber wheels survived being buried all those years.
This is not my first Tootsie Toy, but it is the "Most Intact Tootsie" that I have ever recovered.
Yep, there will be a return trip to this park.

Congratz on a fun looking hunt! That tootsie is cool for sure. I'm also digging that spoon. Is it silver? And I know y'all probably see a lot of Canadian coins up north, but I only have one so far and it's a penny. I'd love to find more.

Funny that you mention the spoon. There are no markings on it and the signal was one you would think would produce a Nickel.
The handle looks like it has been hammered and has an almost square shape. It is definitely not silver.
The Canadian pennies are dug just about , one every other hunt. I do get a lot foreign coins but the Canadian Pennies are the
most common.

Always like finding those tootsie toy cars that's a cool one

Against the Wind - thanks for rescuing the little Tootsie car & giving it a new home. I like digging the little cars (mostly hot wheels) & have started a collection for the grandson. Congrats on your fantastic finds and wish you many more dirt fishing.

Looks like a forerunner of the Batmobile!

VERY nice!!!

Gotta love the older tootsies. :hello2: I'd rather dig an old crusty tootsie over a newer hot wheels or matchbox any day.
