Three For Three --When It's Good~It's Great!
My last three trips out have all produced.
Temperatures, ground conditions, my perspective...I don't know.
But, it has been a pleasure of late.
All found in public haunts that have been pounded to pulverization.
Both dimes found under or above a hot rock that rang into the coin range as well.
Made for quite a signal. The glassy coal rock there was one of them and directly beneath the
barber dime. I believe it may be a hematite variation of anthracite or just highly mineralized anthracite.
The roosevelt was beneath a smaller hot rock about the size of .9mm casing.
When I waved both hot rocks under the coil they came up in the coin range.
What a melody that was for the ears.
Found in an old fairgrounds that became a schoolyard that became a football and track field that became a football field that became a baseball field that became a park with sports fields.
Hunt #2 was an area I thought I hunted out.
Well, I guess I didn't.
I might have now...gee I don't know.
Well, we are talking maybe a 50x50 foot area, and out coughs out 2 silver rosie's and .925 ring.
Hunt #3. Back to the park that gave me nothing but clad last time.
This was your classic late 1800 park that is in every town in the USA.
Last time, nothing but trash and clad...and not much either.
Not today, the kids were nowhere around. Not a soul there.
I took my time and took a good look around.
The mercs, token, and bottle cap all found in a 15x15 area at the most.
Interesting note the bottle cap looked funny, so I put it in my finds pouch.
Turns out to be a prohibition era bottle cap that was used on a legally distilled whiskey.
Apparently, the lame and blind were able to have some of this legally back then.
Here is a synopsis: American Medicinal Spirits Bourbon Whiskey Bottle (08/10/2010)
And, a closeup.
NO, I thought it was an Eisenhower Dollar. You should see the size of this thing. Reeded edge and all.
For some reason I saved my trash this time in a little bag and kept it in my car. As you can see I didn't dig alot.
The 2012 season is just about to close. I must have dug >600 pull tabs and mid-conductor junk. No gold rings this year for me.
So much for the 1:500 ratio.
Good luck all!
