A gorgeous 70 degree/low humidity day screamed metal detecting! First visit to an early 1800s farm house did not disappoint. Despite a yard full of iron I managed to dig 3 firsts for me:

1) Brass plate stamped with A. B. Colville Cincinnati: A. B. Colville was born in Scotland in 1822 and died in Cincinnati in 1887. During the mid-19th century he manufactured scales in Cincinnati. The plate probably came off of one of these scales.

2) Colorado Retail Token Sales Tax (2 mill): Were used from Sept. 1, 1935 to Feb. 28, 1945. The tokens were first issued in aluminum and later in plastic (so I must have an earlier one). Most aluminum tokens I find are toast, so this one is actually in decent condition. I purposely left dirt on it for the time being to make it easier to read the letters. No doubt the token is a long way from home; one can only wonder how it got to the farm.

3) 1866 Indian Head Penny: Always happy to uncover an IHP! Comparing this uncleaned coin to grading guidelines on-line, it shares the most features with the Fine grade.
