Thoughts?

I found this about a month ago on a hunt with Terri (Echostar61). It's either copper or bronze and there are remnants of "nubs" that I'm guessing hinged a lid. That's a quarter in the pic for size refference and I can see no markings on it. Any thoughts on what it's purpose was?

Also, on the upper left hand corner (by the larger key) is what looks to be the end of a skeleton key. It wasn't broken, it has a "peg" so it looks that it fit into something else?

lol, I DID When I found it I almost pitched it in the trash bucket because it didn't resemble anything. You're probably right about this piece, but you never know when someone has seen something exactly like it, I've been suprised more than once on some of the things members can ID here. Yep, got the stirrup & that piece of chain (with the old hook) soaking.
