Thoughts on this find?

Wanted to see if anyone would know what this is. My first thought was that it's the knob off a car window crank, maybe from the fifties or sixties. When looking at the back side looks like it has a place for a key but if it is a key then it would be quite short. Interesting find, found this past weekend while I was out at old baseball park that has been long closed.
