This is a piece I found back in the 70's. Thought the base was odd at the time but figured maybe it was a projection to stabilize it in haft. Later I read of fluting nipples and wondered if this could be one or if they used a nipple on just basal thinning also. Noticed too that base sides are well ground but not smooth polished. The area around nipple has been ground too.
One edge is damaged a little and I tried black crayon to fix it.

Put in a pic of a doe with a magpie on her back. Bird rode her for quite a while picking bugs off . There are 2 does that had 3 fawns out back and it's fun to watch them grow.

I think the piece sticking off of the end is what they call a nipple and is what they would make in order to strike out the flute.. I saw this process in a YouTube video recently of a guy making a fluted point.. if it’s on the Internet it must be true, right?
