I found this today in an old neighborhood yard..I thought it was a watch that was missing the hands and glass.

I noticed when I got home it "rattled" when I shook it, so I opened up the case, revealing a very thin chain, wrapped around an inner wheel.

The chain's end protruded through a small opening on the outer cover. Maybe the chain was spring loaded so the chain could be retracted (?)

Casing looks to be copper or brass.

Thanks for any help, I have no idea what this thing is.

maybe an old timey key keeper worn on the belt. I think they still have them with the retractable chain.

1940's to 50's style. For glasses or a fountaim pin. Also nurses used to hold thermometer case.
Have a silver one just like it somewhere. The mounting on back held a pin catch.

Hi , I just bought this little combo at a yardsale today . It's the same company as Gypsy's picture . Around the edge in very tiny letters - K&McD INC. MADE IN ROSELAND NEW JERSY .

When I saw this item ..... I immediately thought of this Post .....I asked the man 'How much' He said 5 bucks , so here it is ! ( the watch works too ) the chain extends 15 inches .

Glad to be of service ;D

Nice combo, I wish the piece I found had the watch attached..you can see where the pin was before it broke off.
