When we first dug this item we thought it was an old mouth piece to a bugle or something. After further inspection and washing, we realized it’s definitely not a mouth piece. Any ideas on what this is? It’s a strange item! Thanks! 185AD93D-FEE0-4B43-A642-F33A353035BE.webpBF0CB24B-192D-4F80-9748-7FE2FA141AFA.webpAE9B3DA6-2B1F-4617-A19A-6887616E1CA5.webpCB5E5FBA-7AEF-41C9-97B5-3DD977EA474C.webpBC7C6AB2-7329-4FE7-A0EE-D047DA4F6E93.webp

It reminds me of part of a liquor bottle pour top with the cork missing. :dontknow:

Could it be a twine guide thimble from a hay bailer?

Or a perfume bottle top for a dauber. (Although it seems a little big for that...)

What type of metal is it, looks to be either lead or pewter? :icon_scratch:
It was certainly affixed to something, but the inside has not been cast evenly for some reason.

I'm thinking it's use was utilitarian as opposed to decorative.

Just an intuitive guess= Bottom of a Flag Pole that fits into a socket/stud on a Saddle for carry on Horseback so that the rider does not have to support the weight of flag and Pole?
