I am new to detecting and I have been having a great time. I live on some property where there was a house about 80 yrs ago. I have found hundreds of pieces of metal so far, and lots of bottles, glass and ceramic pieces too. Just down from my house are some very large Pecan Trees, they must be over 150 yrs old they are so large. I took my Ace 250 out to them and searched around the bases of one of them.. THe sounds started pining like crazy at the base of the largest one. I dug down and found 6 metal cans all lined up and right at the base of the tree. The cans are in such bad shape I can't get very large pieces of them to come out at one time. SO I get my hose and started to wash the dirt away. THe way the cans are sitting, I was sure I had found a cache of something great. Wel I washed away the dirt and all I found were about 20 more rusted cans. Not much more, but a lot of decayed cans. I will keep looking as the people who lived here all those years ago, left LOTS of stuff behind. I have only found a frame of a broach so far but nothing more of any real value. I also have found 9 different kinds of barbed wire on the site at well. I am having so much fun just finding the junk, but I can't wait to find the first coin on the property. Thanks for letting me share an ALMOST good find.
