When I was young I had an old metal detector and had fun with it. On the spur of the moment I bid on one on ebay and got it. Nothing fancy, a Whites Classic II but the price was right. I just finished making my coin probe and got a nice digging trowel. I hope to get out this spring as early as possible. If anyone is close, drop me a line. Here is my email

I'm in Kokomo too. I'm also just starting, and ran into the same type of thing on ebay. So far, a bunch of clad...but I'm not giving up yet.
