Funny... we work with ops in 20+ countries and prospectors from all over the world.
This question comes up a lot from prospectors and in a strange way (larger) from ops as well.
EVERY region of the country will vary both based on the amount of gold present, but also the
amount of hydraulic POWER... that is in the area.
We have customers that won't work a spot if there aren't 40 colors in one pan sample.
Good example is the Fraser River in BC. But every area is different and for most in the
U.S., especially the south east, bedrock tells the true story of the gold deposits.

I can't stress enough that you need to LEARN THE FULL STORY OF YOUR AREA.

We went out testing this week on the north end of the property.
I KNOW there is good gold present.
You can see in the video what a 10 gallon sample looks like.
You might see a SPECK... every 3rd or 4th pan.
A lot of people would simply walk away.
But the picture below is a 30 minute dredge run on bedrock.

In the video below we were testing for corners that held more fine deposits closer to the top.
There are only a few in our area.

Is that 30 min dredging run from one of the corners you tested on video? And thanks for another informative video. I have only been working the hogpan back and forth with no spinning action, I'll have to change up my technique. It really holds the sub 100 gold very very well. And in my neck of the woods that's the majority size of the gold. I think my next piece of equipment will have to be that multi-sluice. What an impressive machine!

It appears you were using the multi sluice a little differently than the usual setup.
Would you elaborate a little on that?
Thank's.

It's from a corner about 50 yards away.
It actually tested very poorly on the surface.

$300 for a gold pan and I don't get my question answered? lol

its 5.5 lbs

Sorry MyTime....
Didn't see that one.
:)

lol, no worries Doc! I was just trying to be funny.

I'm really excited about my Hog Pan. I can move a lot of material with a 1/4 classifier, garret pan and catch bucket so im eager to see what this thing can do.UPS man can't get here quick enough!

:)

Just FYI...
I don't use the mat, I simply work on speed and the mat slows me down.
I put only about 1 - 1.5 gallons in it.
Learn to rest your elbows on your thighs like we show in the video or you'll be sore the next day.
Hold lightly....
If small rocks get jammed in the grate... which they will at some point... pop them out from the reverse side.
It's no big deal and I only do that about every 20 - 30 pans.
Gold and heavies will fall very quickly so it's really only about a 10 second wash motion.
You'll be surprised at how small some of the gold will be, so if you're not a SUPER panner...
Take home the cons and work them slowly.
I was pulling out lots of 100 - 300 mesh stuff on one location last week.
Doc

Thanks for the tips!
