This weeks keepers, Big silver lady, big copper , Big brass,Yet no big coins !

My wife has been away on a bussiness trip this week so I was able to work on an in town colonial site monday, Tuesday, and wensday night for 3 hours each night ! Plus I got 1 hour in today before I had to go pick up the MRS. at the airport ! I have not been posting because my wife took the camera with her . So this is ten hours hunting on a pretty trashy in town, town owned lot minus the 30 lbs. of trash . The bell was my only keeper tonight ! I can't seem to be able to pull an old coin from this spot though I am not unhappy with the past 4 nights results ! The Sterling cosmetic jar cover was a big surprise ! Yet the solid brass rose has to be my favorite find of the week ! Also the extra large flat button made my Tuesday afternoon it is 1 and 7/16 of an inch in diameter. Thought for sure it was a big penny when dug !! The clock pendulum sure put off a big signal !! No marks found on pendulum ??? The lead game piece was a first for me as well !! some other misc keeper finds kept this hunting time interesting ! I can;t wait to get back out !! MaineRelic. Almost forgot about the 4 sheet copper decoractive pieces I thou gt might be unit insignia?????

Great finds. Just wondering, how did you clean up the sterling top? It came out excellent.

Great stuff!

I actually like the pewter tool (or modified eating utensil). I am trying to think of what this might've been used for... Knitting needle maybe? I think you should post that item in "What is it?" and let folks take a stab at an ID. I haven't seen a pewter piece like that posted here--or anywhere. Does it look like it was bent by a plough, was it modified at some point, or was it cast that way?

Best Wishes,

Buckles

Nice lid!
I think your on to something with the knitting needle idea. Could be a crochet hook.
