This Week's Better Finds - Hornberger, Heywood Wakefield, Orbit, Nicol +++
This week was fairly good to me.
Many pieces of carnival glass - Fenton, Imperial, Fostoria... (see photos) The ones I pictured here cost me a total of $12. A few others that aren't shown here are at home.
Several interesting vintage clocks - Ethan Allen, Seiko, Crystal... (see photos). These four clocks cost a total of $10.
A few other oddities... (see photos). The tea pot, tiger, and doll cost $5.50 total. Several other odds and ends not shown.

My favorites are the following - I had composed a rather lengthy thread last night when my phone DIED!! I lost all of the pictures and my thread details. So, I had to start from scratch....here goes -
1. HORNBERGER acrylic painting - Signed HORNBERGER 72. This piece measures 22 inches by 18 inches (including the frame). I think I love this one the best because of the artist's story. See here - "Trained at Carnegie Tech and Baltimore Polytechnic as a scientist and mathematician, Hornberger was a pioneering engineer in the early days of the space program. He later worked for DuPont, and was fascinated with the unusual properties of new materials, such as mylar—an interest that he later explored in his art. In 1965, Don Hornberger decided to pursue an artistic life and began painting and showing his work at local art fairs, where his paintings sold quickly." ($6)
2. NICOL oil painting - I like the subject matter more than anything....can you say MAN CAVE??!! This piece measures 15 inches by 12 inches and says "THIS ORIGINAL WORK OF ART DISTRIBUTED BY Creative Interiors Inc.". The frame also is stamped the same way, but it has the added "Hecho en Mexico". Unlike the artist of the first piece, I can't find this artist anywhere. However, I think the subject is cool enough that it would sell if I decide to list it. ($3)
3. Signed "1996 (C) Brandon Orbit" Mirror - This is a SUPER HEAVY mirror. Can't seem to find any info on the artist, but the mirror is just lovely. ($3) (pictures to follow)
4. Heywood Wakefield Arm-chair w/ Ohio State University College of Medicine round placard at the top. It was missing some paint in a few areas, and although it was probably a "bad idea" to touch them up, I did use an oil based black paint pen in a few areas. I can't seem to find many details on these chairs, mostly the "Ohio State College of Medicine" part. Not sure if they were university donor chairs or if a professor would have bought them....for that matter perhaps they could have been purchased in down town or at the college bookstore. Either way, this is a superior quality chair, extremely heavy, and I couldn't go wrong with what I paid for it. ($7.50) (pictures to follow)
Funny aside about the chair - when I was going to the back of the store to pick up the chair, I looked down when I opened the door and there laid a very small pendant with the letters AKA. I picked it up and proceeded to load my new chair. When I got back in the car and looked a little closer at the charm, much to my surprise it was marked 10K. Not bad, any free gold is good gold in my book! I need to weigh it a little later to see if the price in gold would counter balance what I paid for the chair -- that would be too funny! (pictures to follow)
