Spent Friday and Sunday on a new permission in Indiana. Lots of iron in the ground but took it slow and discovered some cool finds. The most unique find was a gold-plated copper medallion from the Temperance Movement of the 1840s. It depicts a man drinking from the bucket in a well and symbolizes a pledge to not drink alcohol. I included two pictures of one in perfect condition I found online. The back says "Temperance leads to health, wealth, happiness, and a long life" and "Pledged to use no intoxicating drink as a beverage." Really cool piece of history to me.

Also found a cool floral button and a tombac button in beautiful shape. The two coins I found were a silver 1839 seated liberty dime and an Indian head cent (date is 18-- something). I thought it was interesting that the dime and Indian head cent both had holes poked in them. Usually, I only find these holes in larger coins and mainly only silver coins.

Lastly, I found a license with two holes punctured, that says "Licensed 216 Terre Haute." Terre Haute is a nearby city. Not sure what this license could be for. If anyone knows, let me know. I found a chauffer's license once that is similar, but it said "chauffer" on it.

The temperance thing isn't a token, it's a medallion that was once suspended by perhaps a ribbon much like a medal. According to some others I found on the net, it dates to the 1850s

I found a temperance medal several years ago and you have the second one that I've ever seen posted !! Nice dime and congratulations

Congratulations on the silver and the Temperance medallion.
The button is a nice keeper.

A little lemon wedge rind would bring that one side back to life. It has a lot of gold wash remaining.

Great finds. That is a full dime though. You are in a good spot. Good luck and congrats!

That's a great hunt. I love the designed button back mark!

Looks like the new permission produced!

Thanks! Yep! I was planning on trying to clean it with a lemon soon.

Whoops. I have found two half dimes in the past and never a full seated dime until now so must just be habit to call it a half dime haha

You did great . Thank you for sharing with us

I have the same temperance token, yours is in amazing condition. Mine was toated and took some effort to identify. Don't see too many of those pop up let alone in that condition.

That's a great bunch of finds. Love the older seated dime! Congrats on all.
