Relic Hunting
My wife and I started our weekend out MDing with dirtydig on Saturday, we were able to get him permission to hunt a property that used to belong to his family. In it's prime, there used to stand a late 1800's house. The rain held off for us to get a couple of hours of hunting in, just a foot in the door type of thing and we pulled a bunch of old iron. My coolest pieces being an old hoe and cow bell! For my wife, a lead hem weight :) dirtydig will be posting his finds later.

Then we went out with JJohnson on Sunday. We found several CW era relics as well as some possible colonial items, but what took the cake was what my wife found. Spanish Silver!!!!!

Needless to say, this was one of the most awesome weekends we have had. We got to spend time together, and with a couple of great people. That's worth more than all of the silver in the world!

Here's a little video to tie in with Sunday :) Thanks for a great weekend Lonnie and Chris!

And one thing that I forgot to mention: It was literally only like the third time that my wife was out swinging a detector and digging her own finds! :4leafclover:

Glad to have both of you out with me and Robbie. Come on back anytime and make sure Katie comes with you as she is bringer of good luck...lol Outstanding find she made!!!

Thanks for the congrats! ~J~

That Is A Beautiful Spanish Cob!

Congrats to your wife on the cob. I'm sure she was excited with that find. Love that colonial hoe too. It should clean up nicely in the electrolysis tank. I have one cooking now.

that cob is sweet and the hoe is cool too

That's cool that your wife is okay with you bringing home an old hoe! Good digs!

I had been eyeing this property for a long time and talked to different family members to find out who owned it. sometimes people are nice not only did he give me permision but he wants to give me some of the stuff he found in the old barn. Nice people are hard to come by... faith restored. I look foward to pulling some family history out of the ground with Josh and Katie, which will take a while as this land is target rich. some finds from sat, allthough its not silver its all gonna be gold to me!

And just think, we might have missed that opportunity had I not pushed you into knocking on that door :-D ~J~

wouldnt have missed it was going to wait till i got a new machine but timing is everything.

I cannot tell you how many jokes we made about that after we got it home! :laughing7:

I know there isn't a whole lot to it, but is there anyone on here that might be able to help in the identification of which coin we have? I know there are quite a few sharp researchers on here and hopefully this will be seen as a slight challenge :D ~J~

That cob is sweeeet! Is it a 1/2 reale?

Yahoo!!! Congrats to your wife on the Spanish. :occasion18: Awesome recoveries and great video. I just subscribed.
