Well there's never ending supply of awesome pottery in the creek, just wish it would give up more points. This is what I've found in a spot I decided to rake since the creek is really down even with the rain we've been getting. Two of them are rim pieces, the largest which I found today and the one that's sort of center in the pic, it looks almost like what I would call a scallop. Also, found the 2 cobbles there and the one with the most shards on it is kind of flat so even though not an artifact it is pretty cool to me. Anyway, thanks for the look and happy hunting!

Very nice pottery...looks like Woodland. Hope you find a whole pot one of these days!

Good to see creek turning up a few pieces.

Nice finds Peaches! Keep looking & you will definitely find more points & other worked stone. I love finding pottery. Nice to have & tells you you've got a good spot. Congrats!

You find a lot of pottery. I enjoy seeing it. Good luck on finding a point!

Your creek is full of pottery....and points too I'm sure! Nice!

Im glad something is popping for you. Stone is going to be on the hard pan or in the larger gravel probably the middle.

Good stuff! We will be in Franklin, NC the rest of the week for an antique Tractor Show. I will be in a NC creek!!. Tony

Very nice finds!

Like the pottery Peaches! Have you dated it? I find pottery on Big Water but never in a creek so something special is there for you.

Thinking it's late Woodland and what is called Burke Phase in my area. I have some pieces similar and that's what Dr. Moore says about them, the ones that aren't black on the inside aren't as old as the others.

Sand tempered and water worn, creek must have some pretty good flow. I agree with the Woodland assessment.

Nice finds and have you tried a screen yet in your creek?

I have screened a little bit and found some really tiny shards. I have to get one of my boys to help bring it down into the creek area and get it back up and out because I can't leave it in case it comes up a big rain, don't want it to wash away. I had to put my boots back on too because of the snake(s). Seems that adult water snake is trying to take over and it's probably more than one. I talked to wildlife again and they said there are no cottonmouths this far west and it was more than likely a banded water snake. Still if I step on it I'm sure it's gonna try to bite me lol Just getting ready to go poke around and see if I can find anything. Would be nice to find something real cool for my birthday!
