I love finding buttons, almost as much as coins. You are able to date them quite well and you have a contact with the people who have worn them. The first picture are some of my colonial one piece flat buttons from the late 1700's. Most of these were found this year, and many in the button field and the burning field. The second picture is of some other buttons from the 1800's. The third picture is of my favorite buttons of this year. On the top is my best find so far. It is a George Washington Inaugural button, WI 1 eagle with date. There are less than 100 of these known to exist. Below that from left to right is an 1830 Maine Militia button (ME4), then a war of 1812 naval officers cuff button, an 1840 William Henry Harrison presidential button (PC138) and an 1888 Benjamin Harrison presidential button (PC153). In the bottom row left to right, Unknown military, a civil war eagle, an indian war eagle and another unkown navy button. I hope you enjoy the pictures. The last post will be next week and will include the coins found this year. Thanks for looking...Lance
