I love finding buttons, almost as much as coins. You are able to date them quite well and you have a contact with the people who have worn them. The first picture are some of my colonial one piece flat buttons from the late 1700's. Most of these were found this year, and many in the button field and the burning field. The second picture is of some other buttons from the 1800's. The third picture is of my favorite buttons of this year. On the top is my best find so far. It is a George Washington Inaugural button, WI 1 eagle with date. There are less than 100 of these known to exist. Below that from left to right is an 1830 Maine Militia button (ME4), then a war of 1812 naval officers cuff button, an 1840 William Henry Harrison presidential button (PC138) and an 1888 Benjamin Harrison presidential button (PC153). In the bottom row left to right, Unknown military, a civil war eagle, an indian war eagle and another unkown navy button. I hope you enjoy the pictures. The last post will be next week and will include the coins found this year. Thanks for looking...Lance

hey comfy, that button in the first group of photos,2nd from the top left, does that say "london" anywhere on the back of it? i found one that looks identical to that one. the loop is missing and it is very corroded but you can make out the word london on it.hopefully it does and my mystery will be over!

WOW Lance !!! You praised my civil war buttons so much, and here you have these incredible button finds, that would make anybody turn green with envy. As a matter of fact, I have to wait now before I can go out in public, or people will talk about the green guy they seen.

Looks like you have the same Civil War button as mine, in the last pic , middle right.
Outstanding collection.!!! If I found just one of those. I would be so excited, I would be standing there beside myself. Which would probably look a little odd, to say the least. WTG!! HH
