I thought that I would post this years finds in several posts as I get some good pictures of each grouping. This first grouping will include ladies pins, belt buckles, broaches, purses and such along with some suspender parts. All in these two pictures were found this season, and a large part of them were found in a field I call the burning field. It seems that back in the 1800's this field was used to burn a lot of clothing. It is a large field, (about 10 acres) and the items were found throughout the field. I also found a lot of buttons, (thats another post) along with many pieces of jewelry, pins etc. I will post some more in the next few days. I hope everyone has a safe and happy Thanksgiving. Thanks for looking...Lance

Re: This seasons finds part I

Maybe your burning field was used to burn clothes that belonged to people who died due to a health crisis like smallpox. That would explain why the jewrly was still on the clothes and in the pockets.Just a thought?

Thank you Downindixie. I think that you may be correct. Most of the items in the burning field were from the mid 1800's. I will have to research when any diseases past through this area. Thank you for the input....Lance

I was hoping you would post your end-of-the-year finds like this. This is so interesting to look at. Thanks, Lance.
