THIS REAL SPURED ME ON!!!

Found this today about 10 inches down hunting with my new Nokta Legend aka. (OLD BLUE). I am not sure what time period it is from so any help identifying its orgin would be super. I was hunting deep south west Georgia.

Would be odd I'm mot aware of the morth coming this far down. They did make a beach landing at Natraul Bridge but that's still about 60 miles from here

The closest union calvary regiment would have been the 1st Florida in Pensacola. They were involved in engagements in Alabama and Florida and the furthest east was in Mariana. I don't think they made it into GA. Two of my ancestors were in that unit. One died of yellow fever and the other was MIA.

Great looking spur. Whatta Save! Your spur looks to be of CW period, or as we say, "The War of Northern Aggression! Congrat's from a fellow Georgian. The spur is in very nice condition too.

Have looked at a lot of spurs over the past hour or more.

That being said, I can't find no images of any military issue of this type.
Closest would be a Richmond Pattern type, but still the thickness of the shank of the rowel is thicker.
The flare of the straps also is different.

If anyone has an image of a military type spur that matches it would great to see and ID it.

I think my grandparents were from Calhoun County area. My great grandfather is buried in Edison.

I agree tge closest I can find is the Richmond "BrandyType" rake spur. It could be earlier as I know the area I am hunting was near a garrisoned fort in the Andrew Jackson Campaigns in the early 1800s.
