This point has got to be really old-I think it's made of agate

Can you help me identify this point?
I find all kinds of points in the same field, both old and more recent
I should get a book so I don't have to bother you guys with all these questions
this point must have been laying on the surface for an awful long time at some point in history

That point belongs in the Duncan-Hanna group and is also known as a McKean Shouldered.
4,600 - 3,500 BP

I agree with McKean type, looks like knife river to me, the patina side gives it away.

It is not KRF, that type of material will patinize in a very similar way with that great frosty looking patina. I have several of them myself.

greg, I still say it is agate like I have at the name of this topic
agate is prolific on the sites I walk and till
agate , chert and KRF spalls and flakes everywhere
what do you think of agate?

could be agate larson1951,sometimes materials are too close to differentiate especially on pieces that have great patina..i would defer to what you think because you find an abundance of the stuff at your site.got any other artifacts made out of that material?

Greg, Yes I have a lot of agate artifacts
I will post some some time
my friend found a huge pretty knife made of banded agate
I have drills and points made of agate
I can find agate core stones and raw agates and agate flakes and spalls when I walk
