A friend of mine dug this today on an old shoreline. It's about the size of a half dollar. Two holes and what appears to be a trident. It's hard to see it in the picture, but there is an 'M' on the left of the trident shaft and a 'B' on the right. Nothing on the back. I was thinking saddle shield, but was hoping one of you will know. Thanks folks.

Nice find. It's off a ships rigging block from the late 1800s or so. MB stands for Merriam Brothers. They were a shipping rigging and block making company in Boston.

I know nothing about ship's block and tackle, but google does! I like the challenge of IDing stuff. Went to google image and typed in trident plus M and B and there it was!
 

I'm blown away that it was identified so quickly! I googled pretty much the same thing, but didnt come up with that lol. Its Instances like this that make Treasurenet the best forum to belong to!
