This one is gonna be tough. I was told by people on treasure net when I found it what they thought it was I guess I’m looking for a second opinion. It’s a button but what kind when they told me I couldn’t see it that’s why I’m looking for a little more opinions. After I get some opinions I’ll let you know what they thought it was. 27.3mm coat button Found at the fort in New Orleans Louisiana

Depicts a scene out of a story .. it could be a fable button as well.
I don’t know what you say but I don’t know what the other people saw either I’m a wait for a couple of more opinions and then I’ll let y’all know what they identify it as.

Please don't take pictures of artifacts in your hand/fingers. Notice that in the first picture your fingerprints are perfectly in focus but the button is not. Put the item on a medium dark, non-reflective surface - preferably in natural light. That gives us the best chance to see the details.

Sorry for the mini microaggression...

Is it an openwork button or are the open parts just decay/rot?

In picture #3, is that a bent over shank or the remains of a shaft? Is it a flat button or the front of a two-piece?

Creskol makes a good guess. Possibly a Victorian era picture button.

I refer to these as flower or "picture" buttons. A lot were made just prior to the Civil War. They depict birds flying, dogs chasing foxes, that kind of thing.

Hey what you said makes sense I always thought I got a clearer picture in my hand when I’m in my office at night I never really noticed but you’re absolutely right. That is a shank in the back it doesn’t appear to have been flattened and I think the holes are from decay.

I’m going to take more pictures in the natural light but I was told that that was a Louisiana pelican button now when I was told that buy more than one person I couldn’t see Hell or high water where they got that from but I went with it it seems bigger than the one I found

Yeah, I'm with you. I can't seem to make any part of a pelican out of anything on your button. I searched for a 1 piece Louisiana button and only saw 1. It had the word LOUISANA arched across the top and I couldn't match up any details with your button. Even tried my usual photoshop tricks to bring out some detail... Nada...
