I went out this morning for a hunt at low tide. It was sunny and there was plenty of people already gathering to swim, surf and sunbath.

Nearly an hour went by before I hit my first target. It was a shinny penny. Shortly after that I scored a bottle cap. The day was turning out pretty crappy. My last find of my outing was a quarter.

I know there has to be some goodies in that sand. The weather was poor yesterday so there wasn't any new stuff deposited. I have seen 2 other people detecting here the last few days. Surely they aren't cleaning the place out that well. I wonder if someone could be going out at night?

Or the reality of no one losing much of anything.

I'm heading out tonight as the sun breaks. Come on old trusty pier, give me something a little more exciting and expensive!

FoundinNC I am hunting the cocoa beach, from the pier south.

How can one see their scoop at night? If the moon was bright, I understand. I'd be feeling goofy with a head mounted light.

During the day the beach is so packed I can't hardy gets all around all the people.

I do not use a light at all, at night. I use the light from the moon to make sure nobody comes sneaking up on me, and the light from my cell to check for hallmarks on jewelry. Good luck in Florida!

Thanks vpnavy, i'll need it!
