To Save Him”: Syrian Rebel Slits Faithful Christian’s Throat And Then Taunts His Fiance
There may well be important geopolitical concerns that say that this most important thing America can do in Syria is to aid anyone willing to take down Bashar al Assad, who is Iran’s closest ally in the region. Nevertheless, by waiting two years to act, President Obama is now trying to align American money and troops with one of the most violently anti-Christian organizations in the world. After all, even as the Sunni rebels fight to depose a Shia dictator, they are also on an active crusade to purge Syria of its Christians.
The most recent horror stories about attacks against Christians have emerged from Maalula, a renowned and ancient Christian towns in Syria. The town’s 5,000 residents speak Aramaic, which was the same language Jesus spoke.
From the rebels’ point of view, the town occupies a key location, since it enables them to attack the highway transporting supplies between Damascus and Homs. The attack last week, therefore, actually had a military objective.
Nevertheless, once the al Qaeda backed rebels got into the town, they couldn’t resist the opportunity to “cleanse” it.
In one incident, the rebels put a gun up to a Christian man’s head and forced him to convert by stating “there is no God but Allah.” Although a forced conversion wouldn’t carry any wait in a Western democracy, in Muslim lands it means everything. If the man tries now to practice his true faith, he’ll be killed as a Muslim apostate.
Another man, even under duress from the rebels refused to convert. We know exactly what happened because, when his fiancé called his mobile phone, a rebel answered and even called her by her nickname.
“Good morning, Rashrush,” the rebel said. “We are from the Free Syrian Army. Do you know your fiancé was a member of the shabiha (pro-regime militia) who was carrying weapons, and we have slit his throat?”
The rebel then told Rashrush why they had murdered her fiancé. When they ordered him to convert to Islam, he refused. Before hanging up the phone, the rebel taunted “Jesus didn’t come to save him.”
Again, geopolitically, there may be very good reasons to shake up this Iranian satellite – although President Obama was unable to articulate these reasons.
Emotionally, though, it’s asking a lot of the American people to demand that they ally themselves with a rebel army, at least 50% of which is composed of radical Islamists who wish to destroy the West, with specific emphasis faced on Jews, Israel, America, and Christians.
