Dad furious over son's schoolwork: ā€˜I am willing to give up constitutional rights to be saferā€™

Imagine finding schoolwork in your fourth-graderā€™s backpack that had your child writing, ā€œI am willing to give up some of my constitutional rights in order to be safer or more secure.ā€

And now imagine being told by the school your fourth-grader wrote that elaborate sentence ā€œon his own free will.ā€

Do you buy that for one second? I certainly do not.

And neither does Florida father Aaron Harvey.

According to Harveyā€™s son, and confirmed by other children in the class, the teacher Cheryl Sabb had the children write that sentence as she dictated it after a lesson on the Constitution back in January.

The Blaze reported Friday that Ms. Sabb had a Jacksonville area attorney visit the students to give a lesson on the Bill of Rights. After he left, Sabb had the children write the sentence on a piece of paper that Harvey just recently found in his sonā€™s backpack.

Harvey, a military veteran, turned to Glenn Beckā€™s The Blaze with the story because he expected he wouldnā€™t have received a ā€œstraightforward answer if he asked the school directly.ā€

And as an 11:30 am update on The Blaze reported, Harvey was absolutely correct:

Harvey told TheBlaze he received a call from the school Friday morning that featured the principal, guidance counselor and Sabb. He was told the sentence came during the lesson with the lawyer, that Sabb had nothing to do with it, and that Harveyā€™s son ā€œwrote it on his own free will.ā€

Harvey said he had spoken to a girl in the class who specifically said Sabb handpicked students to write the sentence.

ā€œAll the children are pointing at the teacher,ā€ Harvey said Friday. ā€œThey [the school] told me that my son wrote that on his own free will ā€” thereā€™s no way he knew how to write that on his own free will. He likes to use some big words to flourish ā€” [but] if he was going to put together a sentence that political Iā€™m sure it would be more jumbled than a nice sentence like that.ā€

According to its original report on Friday, the school districtā€™s spokeswoman Kandra Albury told The Blaze she and the principal of Cedar Hills Elementary were ā€œchecking intoā€ the matter. Albury admitted the principal had received a previous complaint from a parent after the January lesson.

ā€œI believe in our Constitution,ā€ Harvey told The Blaze. ā€œI am a veteran, I served for six-and-a-half years proudly and I served to protect our rights. Now whenever I have someone coming in and trying to pollute my childā€™s mind with biased opinionsā€¦thereā€™s no education in that.ā€

Now if the goof would have used Sponge Bob square pants instead of a LF wing attorney a 4th grader would have learned something.

You gotta be smarter than the tools you're using son!

A big research no no. Never put a link up that brings folks here:

THIS is what your link should have looked like: http://www.cnn.com/2013/04/12/us/virginia-community-college-shooting/

BTW, those background checks are a tax and any tax measure MUST originate with the House, NOT the Senate.

I help with & check my duaghters homework very closely . Our area is big on the gun culture , so I doubt if I will see something of that nature . But , I guess you never know ? I want her to appreciate others opinions and why they may have them , but I want her to understand the reasons our country was founded apon . She already knows & understands her toy advertisements on TV aren't always truthfull . LOL

Don't look now, but it isn't just public schools that are teaching things like this. In Catholic schools, you may have nuns at the lower grades, but the higher grades tend (down here anyway) to be taught by lay people with Liberal Arts degrees and very liberal viewpoints. Their ideas are "shared" in the classrooms. I have worked with some who came to public school because it pays better. Charter schools here are the same. In fact, that is a racket unto itself. In 2001, a woman started a charter school here, taught 8-10:30, then she and the kids caught a city bus and went to the Mall for lunch and "business observation". Think the state stopped this, BUT, it was just on the news here that at The School For Excellence In Education, a San Antonio Chater School that never meets state testing standards, a parent wanted to know why his daughter was not being taught. Seems her teacher and several others quit months ago and nobody has come to teach or get them ready for the tests. They just amuse themselves during that time. It came to light when she brought home a paper notifying the parents she would be going to school on Saturday(all students would) to be tutored for the upcoming tests.Parents wanted to know how she could pass the tests without having teachers to teach her before. Ongoing investigation. Bet the poor girl knows little of the 2nd amendment... This is what wrong with education today in this state and I suspect others...

"Indoctrination"....ain't it wonderful? :)

There was a new system introduced in Texas recently . Parents caught it very quickly and questioned it . Something about the Boston Tea party boys being terrorists ?

Yeah sorry I put in the wrong link here it is, I know its not infowars but...

And again more shootings yesterday! Oh by the way I support all of my wife's causes especially women's rights. Better jump on board and out of the past....pretty soon women will be leading this country! And I guarantee they do a better job than we could.
Ooops, my bad. I didn't realize you were a female. So many anti-gun fellers can't decide their gender.

If you believe it, put a link on your image: Miss REVOLutionaries ? Activating for Women's Rights

You show how to stop a rapist and then tell them that it doesn't work? Lunacy!

Of course they did. It's quite normal to question and argue when ones Indoctrinated knowledge is touted in a very different light. If those Boston tea party boys had had an IED...they'd have used it!

To be a "terrorist" means you cause "terror" to a Government, establishment, or population (a basic view.). Not commonly remembered is the terror the American colonial army meted out to the Loyalist population and the reason for the biggest mass emigration the world has ever known out of America the moment you won the war!
Does your indoctrination tell you Washington and his army were Freedom fighters and Libertarians....or terrorists? Who is right? Who makes the rules on who is right? We're all indoctrinated from birth, whether it be our country's history or Religion etc etc, we have no choices. Not until we get older are we able to question things and then make our own decisions, but our basic indoctrination is always there in our minds.

Way of the world mate! :)

The largest migration the world has ever known????? That is hilarious, you better go back to school and study some history your not even close.......

Some major migration events over recent history
Posted by Mission Catalyst at 09:52 on 27th May 2010
Europe
At the end of the Second World War, the Potsdam Agreement signed by the Western Allies and the Soviet Union in 1945 led to the migration and resettlement of around 20 million people*- one of the largest European migrations.
*
The largest affected groups were the 16.5 million Germans forced westwards from Eastern Europe, and the millions of Poles forced to resettle in 'rediscovered territories'.
*
(Wikipedia)
*
India
The partition of British India in 1947 into Muslim-majority Pakistan and Hindu-majority India led to one of the largest mass migrations in history.
*
The break-up along religious lines resulted in the movement of about 14.5 million people*- Muslims going to Pakistan from India and Hindus and Sikhs going in the opposite direction.
*
The consequences were in many cases disastrous, with the governments being unprepared for such massive social upheaval: law and order broke down and huge violence sparked off on both sides of the border causing between 200,000 and up to a million casualties, around 12 million people left homeless and thousands were raped.

*
Transatlantic slave trade
Between 9.4 and 12 million African slaves reached the Americas between the 15th and 19th centuries, however it is likely that many more were taken from their homelands. Around 10-20 per cent lost their lives during shipment.

China
*
The biggest mass migration of human history is currently underway in China. Over the next 25 years it is estimated that up to 345 million people will move from the rural areas of China to the cities. Some people are calling it the second Industrial Revolution.

It's too bad the parent didn't take any of his own precious time to teach his child about the constitution that he holds dear with such conviction. My belief is that we as parents or guardians, have the responsibility to ensure our children are properly educated and not rely on someone else to do it for us. I don't understand how the teacher or school was able to bring a guest (stranger) into the classroom without any notification to the parents in the first place? If a teacher or school pulled any of that crap with my daughter the feathers would come out and there would be all hell to pay.

uhh, backbacon, this doesn't concern you. You are a furiner, and use the word "eh" in everyday speakifying. Does Canada even have a "constitution"? and if it does, who were the founding fathers of that?:icon_scratch: I'd be more worried that 4th graders were given crayons to write with instead of pencils. Do you have any idea how expensive crayons are?
