They apparently got snipe software where you don't even need to be there @ the last second of the auction it will do it for you. You can be a on a beach sipping some martinis and winning bids. Argh.. lool. welcome to the 21st century HutSiteDigger!

I've used a sniping service for many years. It's just the smart way to buy. I rarely worry about people who bid early because they seldom win.

The "key" is the maximum amount you're willing to pay.
Place your maximum bid the last 5 or 10 seconds before the end of the auction.

Yeah i know that program. It's **** too. You can work around it. Find out where the price is going and towards the last few seconds up it about 10 dollars. they usually set a snipe limit.

Absolutely. You'd much rather the seller being on edge thinking their item could slip through for cheap than give him a good price early on.

I don't even think its a program that does that anymore. If an item is at $100 and you put a bid of $200 it bids up in increments for you when someone else bids.

You are sucking yourself in by not sniping with that same amount at the end because you are entering a high number for all the other bidders to push against through the week, therefore raising the price. Sure you still win items for your price but you will be paying more than you have to by bidding early. As a seller I love you guys, so that should say something.


PS: I don't see how a person can get sucked into over paying when you pick a number and you bid.... and doing it with 5 seconds left is a much better argument for not getting sucked in, because you can't keep bidding!

Don't hate, JOIN! I have used a bid sniper exclusively for my auctions for years. It stops me from getting emotionally involved and going over what I want to pay.

when I used to Shop on EBay I always Sniped.
unless I wasn't sure I wanted the Item & was hoping someone would steal it from under me.

I would do the same, Wait till the last few seconds, Time it perfectly to bid
with a Second to Spare,
so by the time others see I bid, it's too late.
I never used a Program to snipe. that costs extra

You can also use it as a backup so if for any reason your manual bid fails you don't lose the item. Not a big deal to most, but for anyone that buys a lot it does make a difference.

I lost out on too many bids because there was a hiccup from when I hit enter until ebay received my bid. The sniper I use has a free option for 5 bids a week and 8 second lead time. If you pay you get unlimited bids and can select the lead amount.

I was Paranoid as Heck on occasions where I really wanted the item,
Thinking My computer would Bog down last second
But always lucked out as far as getting my bid in.
I did loose one I regretted not bidding higher on after.
But never got beat by the clock
