WELL, TODAY I FOUND MY SECOND COUNTERFIT GOLD, I FOUND THE FAKE ROLEX STAMPED 14K LAST YEAR. IM GUESSING IT MOSTLY COMES FROM MEXICO. i remember when id go across the border the panhandlers would hit me up left and right with "jewelry" . this one is stamped 14k ORO. it has a red tone to it, no way its 14k. im still gonna go get it tested to see if by any chance there is any content in it. U all think there is a possibility there is a lil bit of gold in it?
it rang/rings up as +12 foil/ring on the MXT. i ran a 9mm brass shell under but forgot the readout, i think it was in the 30's.

Looks like brass or copper to me. Maybe it was gold plated at some point?

not copper for sure, i have dug a copper chain once, stamped 100% copper

I caught an old boy hawking bogus watches from Mexico once, he had Rolox, Elgen, and you can imagine the rest. They looked genuine until you got to looking at them close. Sold them for a hundred bucks each and told a sob story about getting robbed and losing all his money. They cost about $6.00 each in Mexico! M nty

monty, i have seen the fake rolexs in mexico too, they were selling at 20.00 when i saw them. the one i found awhile back was much much better quality, still a fake. don, the piece that is stamped, i quickly buffed up to help show the stampings. if it were real, it woulda almost paid my detector off

i have some nitric but i forgot how it went. if its gold there is no reaction, if its fake will turn green?

Just touch the piece with the nitric - use a matchstick or something like that, so that you don't use alot.

If it is gold, nothing will happen - if it is not, it will get a blue-green spot.
