It's called "spoofing" a number. I've had it happen. With technology today people can make any name and number show up on your caller ID. It's a scammer/sales tactic to try to get you to pick up.
I even had a person call screaming at me to stop calling her because my number was showing up on her caller ID. I told her to google spoofing.

My wife just told me when i was outside a call came in, she was watching tv, we can see the name and # on the tv when we have a call. This is the weird part the person calling was me and the # was our landline :icon_scratch::icon_scratch::icon_scratch: has this happened to anyone else ? the wife will just forget about it but it will bug the crap out of me for days to come lol.

Yes, it's called spoofing a phone #. Google is and see if there is any way to stop it.

I thought it might be a scam but how could it be my # ok thanks, i thought something weird was going on.

yep !

Happened to me a Few Months ago.
Was on the Computer & My Cell Phone rang.
I looked down & It was Me Calling Me.
After 5 Rings Curiosity got me to answer, Just in Case it was Me
& Time Travel was invented in my lifetime & It was me,
WITH THE next 100 Winning Lottery Numbers.
, :tongue3: so I Picked up.
and said Hello.
no Caller at that point.

Of course what it is, IS "Call Spoofing" Scammers Use other peoples Numbers to
make Scam calls, so they can't be traced.

a Couple Times I Called Numbers on my Phone that claimed they never called Me.
the First one I called a Liar. Was some Old Lady. I Argued & Insisted She was a Liar.

then I Found out about Call Spoofing.

I've had others Call me Too & Tell me to Stop Calling Them :(

They probably thought I was a Liar Too, When I said I Didn't

Caller ID spoofing is when a caller deliberately falsifies the information transmitted to your caller ID display to disguise their identity. Spoofing is often used as part of an attempt to trick someone into giving away valuable personal information so it can be used in fraudulent activity or sold illegally, but also can be used legitimately, for example, to display the toll-free number for a business.
[h=4]What is neighbor spoofing?[/h] Robocallers use neighbor spoofing, which displays a phone number similar to your own on your caller ID, to increase the likelihood that you will answer the call.

Heck, just wait until they spoof your e-mail address and send out 9 zillion e-mail messages trying to scam people. I started receiving bounces, people threatening me, etc. All I could do is just wait it out. It took a few weeks but finally stopped. Now, it happens 2 or 3 times a year. I sincerely hope (and pray) that their is a special place in YOU KNOW for people that do this.

The Only Time the FCC Investigated was when they started Spoofing the IRS
then there was a supposed big arrest.

nothing was done since

Its happened 2x here w/in the last month.People really need to get a job

Unfortunately, we no longer answer our phone(s) unless we recognize the caller. Yea, many times I have to call someone back because it was legit (they left a message). I try to google the number while it is ringing. One thing we have noticed - we get the same exact call on our cell phones and home phone, 100% of the time it is from a scammer, 100% they never leave a message AND isn't it strange that the only way a scammer would have all three numbers is if a business we deal with sells the numbers! All I can do is hope the bad karma bites these people over and over and over and over...

Next time i might give them a taste of this in there ear drum lol and i mean really blow on it. Its a dying rabbit call for those that don't know.

anyone can spoof , look up prankdial.com

my email has been spoofed , they are demanding $ 913 bucks or else will send out porn to all my contacts. I hope they hold their breath while waiting.

I've started answering lately when they were my area code,
because I was expecting a Call. I found the More I answered The More they called.
Even though I Hung up.

They are all Automated Now :(

Used to be when a Woman Scammer Called & I Answered, I'd ask her Obscene Questions about the condition of her panties and certain body parts.
& Act like an
Obscene caller trying to Offend Them.
Hoping they would Threaten To report Me. :tongue3:
so I could say please do !
but they just gasp and hang up

They don't Know Or Dial the #'s though, a Machine Does.
and where they have operators they only answer if one available.
if not, you get Dead air.

As I said, they Now just do Automated calls Here.

I Don't stay on long enough to See if it says Press 1 or Please hold for a Live Caller,
so I Don't know on that.

LMAO

I got my email spoofed. When I started receiving spam I began to put in spam box to delete. Turns out I can't delete spam sent to myself even if I didn't send it. so I don't open nothing unless I know or am expecting one.
