This is one HEAVY relic....and it's been in the ocean for a while

Found about 18" down in wet sand on a replenished Space Coast beach...length is 11" and diameter is 6"...there is a large wire coming out of the "top" of it. What is really strange is the weight of it in relation to it's size...close to forty five pounds I think. My scale is broken but I will get it weighed asap. It is heavily encrusted with shells and of course rust, which I will begin soaking in a vinegar solution and update this as I get more clues. I would appreciate any guesses you all may have...and Happy Hunting !!! crusty 1.webpcrusty 2.webpcrusty 3.webp

An old muffler maybe? Rusted shut and full of sand

The rustedmufflejunktarians were a nomadic tribe of early hunter gatherers that occupied the Treasure Coast starting at about 1200 BC.
Their frequent clashes with the AIS columnated in the battle of ilegaldumpin and is credited with the earliest documented curbside trash pick up service in Brevard County

LMAO.... Update..........the object does weigh a little over forty pounds and is thick metal that withstood a lot of prying from my sturdy trowel during recovery.
