ESSO was Standard Oil
( the initials, S O, pronounced to form the name ESSO.
Im guessing this was a key fob from a motoring club. If your key was found it could be returned to this location: Midway Auto.

Nice couple of finds. I like that tag. My wife grew up in a small Illinois town in the 60's where they just used the last 4 digits of the phone number to call someone. If they wanted to call outside of town, they had to use the 3 digit prefix as well as the last 4.

I have memories of the same in Palmyra, NY in the late 60s. Within their exchange, dial last 4 digits; within area code (but outside exchange) dial last 5 digits. How the exchanges kept things straight, I do not know. :dontknow:
