I happened upon this pic in a photo archive. It was found near the Nehalem River on the Oregon coast. There are a few shipwrecks in the area, and all sorts of stories of Pirates and Spanish gallions (The Beeswax wreck to mention one) It looks like a Spanish Conquistidors Ax head, but I don't know. Please any help would be great.

Know idea, the top half looks like it's cast and the blade looks like rusted steel. The entire thing looks like it's been sand blasted or painted. Do you have a link to the site the pic came from?

The link isn't any help. It is from an old photo archive. All the expanation says is that it was found near the Nehalem River on the beach. I too thought that it might be a hinge as well, but the other part looks lit it is attached. There is apperantly a Spanish gallion wrecked of the coast where it was found. that is why I thought that is was an old ax head
