I dug this Saturday, 2/12/11. The site produces relics from different periods: Colonial, Civil War, right on up to the present. As you can see, this object is made of brass and has the word "Hamilton" stamped over what looks like a coat of arms or a logo. Does anyone know what this is or what its purpose was? The style of the lettering leads me to believe it's from the 20th century, but who knows.
Thanks,
Jason

I may be wrong on this but there was a Hamilton foods that made all kind of equipment types . And they had a label that looked like this.

This might get you started on what it is.
I do not know how old the company is or much about it. I have just seen the name on equipment in places .
