This cant be normal

That’s normal. Wrap the wire up the shaft. Make sure it’s not to tight (just so that it doesn’t flap) or it could pull the wire out of the coil.
 

I do similar to Perses but use electrical tape. I go straight up the back of the lower shaft and start wrapping the coil wire around from there up. I change coils by changing lower shafts and it makes it easier as well. Keeps the coil wire out of briars etc and helps on false signals when you bump it.:icon_thumleft:
 

If all of the above doesn't work, you have a bad connection in the wire connectors or the coil. hand print-2_edited-5.jpg Frank...
