just order my E-30 estwing it a 22oz leather handle ill send a pic

That's odd, I don't see anything there that looks home made? Yes new toys, what a pleasure. What pans? You ever looked at a Batpan at batpan.com? I own one and really enjoy using it, not your typical gold pan but it works!

Eastwing makes some mighty useful tools. I purchased one of their Gad Pry Bars (considered a geologist pry bar) and it is Very useful! Move boulders way bigger than it! Another good tool comes from Harbor Freight and is the 4 ton cable hoist BUT do not even bother with their lighter duty ones. To go along with the 4 ton hoist I suggest a selection of cables/chains and hooks along with a very solid tire chain for snow as they make an excellent boulder bra.................63bkpkr

I got all excited but there was no gold in there like it shows on the box. It was way too small to fit the fatty so I wasnt worried there lol

All I can say is Freddy Dodge uses Proline. Have we EVER seen the Toad panning on camera? Nuf said.

(Props to Garrett on a good pan, time to get a new ad agency!!)

HaHa the gold pan of choice ? why ?

Because he was supplied with a free crate of them
so they could say that ? :tongue3:

not a put down on Garrett, just a putdown on exaggerated advertising.

if I was Garrett's advertising department,
the cover would say:

"the pan we supplied to Todd for free, that he didn't send back"

or

"the Pan he posed with for this ad"

On the show half of them wear Garrett hats, and they have them do print ads with the AT Gold. I've never seen any of them use a metal detector on the show. I think that if they got no gold for the season, they would still make money because of their network contracts.

im not gonna put garret down bc i havent used it but i grown so comfortable with my keene gold catcher idt ide trade for the garrett

The California nanny state seems to think that you need a sticker on everything so you wouldn't be snacking on lead fishing sinkers or doing a shot glass of mercury, of course this only applies to Californian's.

ide like to learn how to weld can you do welding with a regular blow torch

As far as I'm aware a regular blowtorch won't get hot enough to weld but can solder. Welding torches don't cost a lot. Harbor freight carries them

Welding aluminum takes a very precise machine that you will not get at harbor freight. It takes an AC square wave welder with pedal to begin welding aluminum. As an engineer I have 20 years of professional welding experience but I have been welding for 28 years. My dad taught me how to weld when I was eight years old. He taught me the one skill that has carried me through life. ALL of the schooling that I have has only supplemented that one skill. Learning how to weld mild steel is a good way to start, then moving to stainless, and then to aluminum is the usual progression. The very first thing I learned to weld on was aluminum though and at 8 yrs old I was a sponge. The electrical path of the AC welding is VERY WIDE and EXTREMELY hard to control. After learning how to do that I was amazed at how easy everything else came to me. ALL other forms of welding have been what I would call simple however I am an understanding soul and I see how I was given the advantage and I can appreciate the struggle most others experience in learning to weld. I honest to god experienced the same struggle when learning to solder with a soldering Iron LOL OMG that kicked my butt.

So to step away from that and get back to it, you totally can learn how to weld, but its gonna cost ya. If you go out and buy the most BADA$$ highbanker you can think of you will be spending half of what you need to spend on the proper equipment to learn how to weld with. That being said its up to you to learn or just go get gold. I am just starting out with gold prospecting and am just lucky that I have the tools available after being addicted to welding for so long.

I just added two new videos tonight.

He just asked if you could weld with a blowtorch my first thought was just oxy acetylene welding not aluminum. I havnt learned that yet so I forget about it

Totally and that was mine too lol. Man the last thing I did with OXY-ACET was in High school. In this day and age I don't even know any outfits that still use that form of welding and I live in IDAHO LOL....
