But couldn't get to it for one reason or another. There is an old school in this area that looks real promising. First attempt ended with family emergency.....second was haulted with nasty weather......This time all the roads were colsed because of a major fire! So, I am hoping I can get in there sometime during the week. I have posted some pictures that I thought some of you might like to see. Officials are 90% sure this fire was human caused, and are saying most likely by fire works. All those houses are ampty (400 homes have been evacuated so far). With temp in the 100's , and 20-30mph winds, this fire is growing very fast, and is at 0% containment.........SO PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE be careful with fireworks, campfires, or anything else that could possibly cause a fire. You can't imagine just how fast thses fires can grow.......this one is less than 24 hours old!

Hmmm....I think he missed the target....by about half a mile! That red stuff cost $3000-$4000 a drop...just the material, not any cost involving the plane.

filling up the water bucket again. This guy comes down about every 5 minuets to fill up

Luckily I know the 4x4 trails around here very well, because most roads in the area are closed. There is quite a traffic jam on the highway from the people stopping to watch the fire. The hill we drove up on to get these pictures is quite a bit higher than the fire, so when the fire bombers drop the load of retardant and head back to the base, they fly right over what what seems to be a pretty low level.

Awesome thread Paul. Sorry to here about and see everyones misery there. It's dry as heck here too and my parents live up in the back woods of northern Michigan so fire is something I definitely think about. Hope it changes soon there and wets up.

Awesome pics Paul...what kind of camera are you using if I may ask?

I use a varity of different cameras & formats, but I used a Minolta Maxxum 7D digital SLR for these (now known as a Sony Alpha 100........Sony bought out Minolta)

Sorry you couldnt get to your hunt but those are some awesome pictures. Thanks for sharing.

I don't think brush will be much of a problem there anymore when I do get in there.

Great photos-sad to see such devastation to such a beautiful part of the country. It's going to take a LONG time for that area to recover.

Great post Paul. Real sorry for the fire and destruction in your area bud.
Great pics...

Keep safe....

Cool pic's! Do you find much in the Wenatchee area? I have a brother in law there that detects, has found some good coins and lots of jewelery but said it's really hard to get permission for the older areas, thanks for the fire update same thing happened when I was living there in the 80's HH ;)

Reminds me of watching the hill called Rattlesnake burn, up behind Prosser a couple of years ago. Those hills sure do spread that brushfire! Then again, Prosser could burn to the ground and I wouldn't give a....hoot ;D
