Thinking of diversifying

First off, I don't know what a MXT E-track or DFX E-track is. I know Minelab makes an E-Trac, but I don't know if Whites makes an E-Track.

The difference between the MXT and MXT 300 is that the 300 has a bigger coil ( about 12 inches) instead of the older stock coil of 9.5 inches. The difference between the DFX and DFX 300 is the same thing.

There is a difference between an MXT and DFX, one of the main differences is the DFX is a dual frequency machine, and will work much better on salt water beaches. The MXT is simpler to use and is a great relic, coin and even gold prospecting machine. The DFX is much more programmable and has lots of options you can change/switch. Much more customizable in terms of setting parameters and creating programs for different sites and environments.

You can read up on the differences on the Whites Electronics site.

I never used a Minelab E-Trac so I cannot comment on it but I hear and read its a great detector too.

DITTO , Ya saved me a lot of typeing.

I do believe he meant E-Series, not E-track.

Ditto what Therover said. :hello:

Sorry my mistake, I have seen MXT, MXT 300 and MXT tracker E, I have seen DFX, DFX 300 and DFX E-series. Just wounder if there is anything about one that would be better than the others. Like software rev's or electronics upgrade etc. I have never owned any detectors than Garrett other than my GoldBug. I have been reading about other detectors and have seen the mxt and dfx marked several ways. I only want detectors made in the US, I just try to keep the money here at home. I think the MXT or the DFX would be a good addition to my detectors. I read some on both but not sure which would be the best choice. I do some gold tecting on my claim here in Colorado so coin and nugget hunting is what i do most with some relic thrown in for fun. I have even looked at the Spectra V3 but man that is lot gold for a detector. I like the multi freq idea to cover all target types but I feel right now the V3 is just not fully developed. So the MXT or the DFX is looking real intresting.

Thanks for your post there Therover, I have learned a good deal from it. Honestly being new to the hobby, I am overwhelmed with all the models MXT, DFX, PI's etc.. This gave me a better understanding :headbang:

All MXT,MXT300,DFX,DFX300,M6 are E-series machines its the higher end detectors.
