Starting out 20+ years ago with a Radio Shack, then quit for a long time. 6 years ago I started back with a BH & must say for my limited
experience it has been a good detector, what I dig & how deep is mostly what the machine has described. Been thinking about a Minelab, but I've read too much & will not buy from Kellyco. Does anyone know if there are any dealers in the tri-state area around Pittsburgh? As I usually like to hunt old areas & almost never hunt parks & such for modern coins, what detector do you think is best?

The only tector dealers i'm aware of localy tubes are White's. you interested in them ?
I do quite well 'round here with DFX and IDX Pro.

got a used explorer xs with sunray probe for $475 and its an awesome machine but there is a learning curve (i'm still learning) an easier machine is the sovereign (sov, sov xs, sov xs2, etc.) with a 180 meter (can be had in $350 price range).basically turn on and go machine in auto. then as your experience grows you can go to manual mode and tweak it to get even more depth. i've used bounty hunter, whites xlt ,tesoro bandito.none could beat either minelab

don't think you could go wrong with a whites MXT. not super cheap but it does so much , so well.
Happy hunting.
