So where I had found the one old quartz point, I was walking along the stream and saw a black line on the bank, I went over and dug in there some, to find some rocks w burn marks, and a piece of coal or burnt wood (very light but still a 1"x2" clump) and some other quartz underneath.... This is also the stream I found the clay marbles too. Are there any other signs or areas I should gravitate to? I haven't found anything but a small rusted piece of metal in there, and possibly a flint, I'm unsure what they look like. Alot of odds and ends small quartz pieces- but- no way to tell in regards to them being anything other than rocks.
Thanks for any pointers!

Don't see anything that looks prehistoric here. Keep trying.
I assumed as much as well- but this IS definitly an old (2' into the ground surface) old firepit that I finally know- now just to see WHOOO's it is!!! I may go w my metal detector next time I go there.
