I just read an article that talked about a local park that had 10 acres of soil from a river dumped. The river has been a shipping channel for more than 400 years. I would imagine it has to be trashy, but there may be some good treasure with all that trash.

Has anyone hunted dredged soil?

Yes, hunt that dredged dirt!

There is a middle school that was built in the late 50's. There is a "football" field that is raised. The dirt you can tell has been dumped there. We have found barber coins and stuff from that era along with rings and plenty of fishing sinkers. We don't find the fishing sinkers anywhere else on the property but on the filled field area. So, our conclusion is that it was fill from a dredging.

I would definately give it a shot. Sounds like a great place for potential. After all worse thing could be out some battery power and some gas money.

I hunted a boat dealership lot that came from dredging the local neighborhood channels. I found only trash. I wish you luck.
