2-11-11 Took a trip North to where there was an old house ruins . This was another place that took some time to locate. Low and behold there were still some oldies left . I found a saddle or harness mount , an old US Army lock , on the trail to the ruins .The shield still has gold gilt , a first with some shine left . Half mile hike through the woods . Not much of the place remains , part of a stone foundation and some bricks . Dug the usual junk and two cents . A 1846 M & S stamped & 1850 with bullet hole . 8) It has been awhile for coins here ...second and third since Jan .first . Hope your ok in the snow areas Spring is on it's way . HH , CMD

mighty nice finds, love the LCs

Too bad about the coin defacing ??? As far as the letters go ??? Glad you got out and found some coppers even if they are shot up :D

Cool finds Dawg. Love that lock, aswell as the largie's. :icon_thumright:

Still waiting for the thaw up here in the Philly area! Nice going on the dig. I found a similar shield a while back along with some British buttons. No gilt on this one, and it appears to be pot metal.

Nice digs!
Travel east ..the ground is thawed out ,especially in the sticks , open fields are not bad but there are some places that are hard for the first couple of inches ..signals are sharp with the moisture content as well. Thanks, Neil CMD

Great finds!!! that M&S coin is really cool. Nice mix of finds. Hope it is close enough to hit it again soon.

nice hunt! that counterstamped LC is prolly worth alot more now with that on it. depending on what buisness stamped it.
i got one that's worth $250

Those two LC's are fantastic with the bullet hole and counterstamp.. and that stamp is one of the neater ones I've seen :o The saddle shield with the gold looks great, never scored one of those but Josh snagged one at my site ::) :laughing9: Keep up the good "work"

Thanks Bunker , maybe the M & S cent was used as a trade token during the civil war , close enough and hopefully it stays a secret spot until I get back .

2 fitty :headbang: 8) 8) 8) details are sharp and minimum corrosion . third counter stamped , This one is a favorite because of the initials , my younger brother is Steve and I am Mike . We were out on the Cape May beaches yesterday looking for gold coins that are being dredged up ....1700's Portugese coins have been found but none for M&S :(
