Detector(s) used
White's DFX
Hello, All,

I got into metal detecting this past June when I purchased my DFX. Although I have yet to hit that sweet honey hole spot full of silver and gold, I have had an enjoyable half year of detecting. The only downside for me is that, so far, this has been a solitary pursuit. The wife helps with the research part, but she is too lazy (I'm safe-she isn't looking over my shoulder) to go out in the field with me, and none of my buddies are interested in getting a detector and going out with me. But enough of that. Here are my finds so far for the year.

NOOOOOO...you didn't just say that!! :D

Those are some great finds! There are quite a few folks on here from NC...maybe you can hook up with some of them. :)

Congrats! Nana ;)

Earthworks, I have a Canon camera and the editing software that came with it allows me to put the captions on the pictures. I then posted them on the forum per T-net's posting instructions for photos.

Your "What is it?" is part of an industrial pressure gauge. If you go to this website: http://www.ashcroft.com/library/gauge_manual.pdf
and go down to where the internal drawings of the pressure gauge is displayed (I think page 8), you will see the part you have located in the middle of the gauge. Your part is missing the circular return spring and linkage that connects it to the bourdon tube.

mws53,

By Jove, ole chap, I think you got it. That was it, thanks. Now I am wondering what in the world it was doing in an empty lot where a house used to be. Perhaps the whole gauge was a souvenir from an old steam locomotive, and some kid took it apart and played with it.
