For some reason class rings are still jumping under my coil. Yesterday I found another one. My detecting year runs from May 1 to April 30, so I still have a month and a half to go and this is the 7th class ring I have found this year (normally only one or 2 in a year). I went back to the campus and spent 4.5 hours swingin the CZ21. We had 4 inches of new snow at home, but luckily the campus had only gotten rain. I found 129 coins (very penny heavy) with a face value of $4.50, a car key, a stainless fork, the ring and a few tabs, slaw and foil of course, but the trash level was thankfully low.
The class ring is the 6th one I have found here. It is made of PRECIUM which is an alloy of silver and palladium so it is a lot better than the stainless steel ones. It is from a local school and it has the owners name and not just the initials on the inside which makes things a little easier. Now the work of tracking him down begins. It is a 1981 ring so he is only around 56 so hopefully he is still around and not too tough to find. The schools are closed for 2 weeks because of the pandemic so I can’t contact any alumni groups. Maybe I can find him on line. This ring is from the same school as the last one I returned so maybe some of the folk who helped track down the widow can help with this guy.
Wish me luck as I try and return number 18 class ring out of the 26 I have found in my almost 18 years of detecting. Thanks for looking and may your coil lead you to good things.
