The strategy today was simple; pick a spot in the middle of the last 2 big grids & see if the hammered were present. Took me 30mins to get my first, not the 5 or 10 mins previously. Seemed a little less signals but plenty of lead, so at the beginning I never expected our best hammered day ever!
My conclusion is; there must be hammered spread over a near 50 acre area & we have only put a couple of small dents in it!
No idea what's going on yet, they are spread out over a large area & spanning many hundreds of years, yet don't come with the usual Hammered Country Finds.:icon_scratch:
Not complaining.

Nice to finally see Land-Mag join us with his dog & also get in on the action with his own hammered. He tried close to out first grid day 1.

5hrs 30mins:

2 Tudor Buttons (1 scarce Lead type)
Broken Fishscale Crotal Bell
1893 Silver Ring
Silver Spoon
Medieval Lead Trade Weight
Neolithic Flint
Broken Medieval Purse Bar
Broken Medieval Belt-Slide
1926 & 1930 Sixpence
10 Hammered:
Henry V? Halfpenny
Broken Shortcross Penny (broken in field & cleaning, very brittle)
Cut Half Penny of Henry III Scarce Spelling of London: E[LVND]
Commonwealth Halfgroat
3 Ed I Farthings
Ed I Penny - Canterbury
Lizzy I Half Groat
RARE: PHILIP & MARY 1554 Sixpence (I thought it was Spanish in the field, as I saw the 'HISP') Only produced for 1 year. Nice gap to fill.:icon_thumright:

Amazing finds.

Well congratulations on the best silver day.
Something certainly was happening in that field over many centuries.

They are amazing in quantity and quality.
The tombac and decorated buttons are like the ones we find in Canada but the rest is much older and more varied.

Congratulations to you Crusader on your record breaking Hammered bonaza!!! I'm guessing that this site is going to keep both you and Cru'Dad very busy for quite some time. Well done!

Yes, many years.....

Way to go Cru and Dad! Great day for you both! Thanks for sharing your success with us once again! Sure enjoy your posts... you encourage us all!

Fantastic day! Looks almost easy to them....
Yes easy, if you grid a big enough area.
Our first 1 hour scouting mission found none wandering & doing mini grids.
