Today we aimed to finish this Site. We did one of our longest grids in awhile - 6.5 hrs. But we still had a very small area that we will need to come back to in the future! However, for now we need to move on to a new permission & and some new targets. If you you don't get excited about the prospects of a new researched target then you in the wrong business. Only time will tell if its a good one or a bust...
82 buttons today, so just 3 short of our record on this field.

17 Roman Bronze Coins - 5 Pierced! & 3 OK ones - Most in 1 day of this site.
Anchor Button, not sure if Royal Navy
Large Lead Trade Weight (don't get too many of these)
Tudor Clothes Fastener
Shell Shaped Leather ornament (Tudor)
2 Lead Token
Royal Farthing
17th C Token 1668
2 6th C AD Saxon Brooch bits..
Saxon Hair Pin
17th C Knife Terminal in the shape of a Hammer
Roman Amphora Shaped Strap-end
1889 Sixpence
3 Hammered - 1 unknown, 1 Ed I Durham mint, & a nice Commonweath Halfgroat
Debased Roman Silver

Pretty strong finish.

Cru', I see what you mean by debased...love the shield hammered and the Dogett, London button is very cool!

Can't wait to see what you recover on the next site....may there be a hoard...you never know... :)

It would be very hard work digging all those holes for so many hours. But the rewards are great!
To be honest what made this fairly easy, even with all the junk we dug, is muscle memory, digging out the right amount of dirt (not too much, not to little - comes from understanding how deep & big the objects are - learning the sounds, not using the VDU), and its very sandy easy to dig ground. Plus dry surface.

Yeap cru'dad got the shield hammered, nice example, as they are often holed or worn.
