Hi all, had a pretty good weekend. I found two IH's (1889 and 1905), a 2 cent
piece 1867 really worn bad, a number 4 sleigh bell, a white small bottle,
some sort of a hook, and a grinding stone, Indian type! I found all of this
stuff at this old house and a ghost town in my area.

HH, all, hope you had a good weekend also, Ringfinder

Thanks Mona Lisa, I've wanted to hunt this site forever, and it opened up to me and
I took the chance. Didn't find anything in the yard, but the field around the house
gave up the goodies. I love it when you hit a trash pit.

Nice finds,

That's a large area to go over. If you don't have a big coil I can gurantee alot of misses. That's a site I'd go over a few times.

My buddy said the same thing to me a couple years back. I hunt kinda fast and he said I had to
miss something. I found a lot of IH's and silver coins that day. He went back to the site the
next day while I was at work, he walked every inch of the field, a square acre, was a school site
and only found one (1) IH. That was seven (7) hours of hunting. Guess I didn't miss to much.

But you never get everything, that's just the way it is and you can bet i'll be back to that site again
and again.

Great finds! Love the picture of the schoolhouse. Looks so original and peaceful. I'm drooling over that Sheild Nickel. ;D ;D

The Acre plot that these schoolhouses were on - how do you know where the property lines were?

Beautiful place to spend an afternoon and those finds are GREAT!!!! I'd have to keep going back!

Congrats! Nana :)

That is a great looking site, nice finds! But I would go back and hunt it a few more times. I have places that we wont hunt for awhile and next thing you know new signals and finds over the same area we hunted previously, Tsgman

Nice finds! That small white bottle looks like a very old fuse for an electrical box. HH, Mike

Hi all, Thanks for your comments.

I just wanted to reply to a few of the comments. First the White bottle is not a
fuse, it is some sort of perfume bottle.

Second the house is just that a house, it is not a school house, although it does look
like one.

When I do hunt a one room school house, I use tile flags to mark the area. I know from
'walking other school house sites that the school is still standing that the one
room school sets on a square acre. I walk from the edge of the field that looks
like it might be the side of the acre. I walk 70 steps to the east, put a tile flag down,
and walk another 70 steps to the north. This shows me about where the school
would have set. It doesn't have to be east, it can be west or south, which ever
way you want to do it.

Your steps might be shorter or longer. If you can find a school site walk it off. It sure
is a great way to hunt a site. Sometimes the school set long ways, but usually it set on
a square acre.

Good luck, hope this helps out. HH, Ringfinder

That looks like one nice place to hunt.......Flat and cut down grass........Nothing better! Great finds! HH
